There are a million things we have needed to get done before baby Olive’s arrival and the nursery has been at the top of our list.  We slowly worked on her room for months and wanted to find a way to give it a personal touch. Lucky for us, both of her grandmothers have an artistic side and came to my rescue when I wanted to create a unique accent wall.

After finding a floral print wallpaper on Pinterest, I decided that I wanted to somewhat recreate that look in the nursery but without having to use actual wallpaper.  With acrylic paints, the Nancy’s (both grandmothers name is Nancy!) went to town as they painted adorable flowers on our accent wall and brought more life into the room.  I plan on keeping a few fresh flowers and succulents in the nursery so the green leaves and floral print created a much-needed pop of color and balance to the room.

For a sentimental piece, I used a small round table in the corner of the room that my grandpa made for me when I was a baby.  He made the entire thing from scratch, cut hearts in the sides and stained it.  Though the table does not match the room perfectly, it is the perfect piece to have next to my daughter’s crib.

Lastly, my contribution to the nursery was a large dream catcher that I was able to make thanks to a few great YouTube tutorials.  I love natural elements so I incorporated twine, leather cord, wooden beads and gold tipped feathers to this piece.  In order to make it not as “earthy” looking, I crafted it all on a shiny golden metal hoop.  I am really happy with how everything turned out and cannot wait for my sweet little girl to enjoy her new room!
